Dr. Ehsan Azimi is a Harvard-trained physician-scientist specializing in medical and surgical dermatology, laser surgery and aesthetics.

He completed dermatology residency at the Harvard Combined Dermatology Program and a dermatology research fellowship at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also completed a transitional year residency in internal medicine at Metrowest Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine. His training included prestigious institutions such as:

Dr. Azimi completed a research fellowship at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center (CBRC) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he made groundbreaking discoveries regarding mast cells and Mrgpr receptors. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of skin inflammation and sensory mechanisms.

Notable achievements include:

  • Discovery of the first antagonists of MRGPRX2, a receptor implicated in skin sensation, drug reactions, inflammation, and mast cell degranulation
  • First to discover the dual action of neurokinin-1 receptor inhibitors on Mrgprs
  • Describe the mechanism of Red Man Syndrome, a common drug-induced reaction
  • Inventor on two U.S. patents for targeting Mrgpr receptors
  • Authored over 40 book chapters and publications in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Nature Communications, and Nature Reviews.

Dr. Azimi also served as a peer reviewer for several journals including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Cell, ITCH, and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, among many others. He has received multiple research awards and support from the National Eczema Association, Society for Investigative Dermatology, and other leading organizations.
